Sound Mysteriously Dying

Hi there,

Whiskey here, I tried to log in with my old user and password but it wouldn't accept, but that's another story.

I haven't played Enemy Territory very much since I got Win7 and I have noticed that in particular situations my sound will crackle in and out or just produce static sounds, this tends to happen when an airstrike or artillery/other loud noise happens.

It isn't my hardware as I have swapped between headset and speakers (with and without bass on) and it still happens. I today altered my soundmeg values to no avail.

Any other ideas out there?

Hi,

i remember that i had some sound issues a long time ago, IIRC lowering the sound quality in the ET options helped, but i think you have tried it already.

Ciao

Well I don't know what causing this problem, but as I use Win 7 as well and have no problem, I will just post my sound cfgs.

Code:
//Sound
seta s_khz          "44"      //Sets frequency of the music, very high quality = 44 [1.03], high = 22 while low = 11
seta s_wavonly         "0"       //DEFAULT = "0" setting "1" causes playing only .wav samples
seta s_loadas8bit   "1"       //DeFAULT = "1" if you want to load sound files in 8-bit format "0" off
seta s_defaultsound   "0"       //DEFAULT = "0" no idear what this does
seta s_mixPreStep      "0.05"    //DEFAULT = "0.05" It is the time after the sounds will be mixed.
seta s_mixahead         "2"       //low value gives you more fps but worse sound quality "0.2"-"2"
seta s_doppler         "1"       //DEFAULT = "1" if you wanna hear bazooka rockets?
seta s_separation      "0.5"     //DEFAULT = "0.5" left right 0-1
seta s_musicvolume   "0"       //DEFAULT = "0.25" responsible for music volume in game menu
seta s_volume            "0.5"     //DEFAULT = "0.5" responsible for loudness in game 0-1
seta s_compression  "0"       //DEFAULT = "1" sound compression
seta s_bits         "16"      //DEFAULT = "16" sound bits
seta s_channels     "2"       //DEFAULT = "2" sound channels

Unfortunately, this problem has returned and those settings no longer seem to work.

Curiously, it only happens in etpro (or your server) I haven't tried other etpro servers. Jaymod works fine *shudder*

Im not sure, everytime it happens I do a /snd_restart and that fixes it for about 5 minutes or so.

I've bound it to a key now :P
