The following will install a sound hack to fix sound problems in Enemy-Territory and disable the screen saver before Enemy-Territory start.

Install Sound Hack for ET.
Code:
cd ~/Downloads
wget http://download.hirntot.org/misc/et-sdl-sound.tar.gz
tar -xvvzf et-sdl-sound.tar.gz
sudo mv et-sdl-sound/et-sdl-sound /usr/local/games/enemy-territory
sudo chmod +x /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/et-sdl-sound

Edit the start routine of ET
Code:
sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/et

Find:
Quote:
exec ./et.x86 "$@"

Replace with: (ONLY FOR GNOME DESKTOP USER)
Code:
# Disable screensaver before ET start
SCRSV=`gconftool-2 --get /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled`
if [ "$SCRSV" = "true" ]; then
gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled "false"
fi
./et-sdl-sound "$@"
#exec ./et.x86 "$@"
# Enable screensaver after ET quit
if [ "$SCRSV" = "true" ]; then
gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled "true"
fi

Replace with: (ALL OTHER KDE, XFCE, ...)
Code:
exec ./et-sdl-sound "$@"
#exec ./et.x86 "$@"

If CTRL+3 does same as ESC in game:
Code:
xmodmap -e "remove Control = Control_L"
./et-sdl-sound "$@"
#exec ./et.x86 "$@"
xmodmap -e "add Control = Control_L"

Remove useless install files
Code:
rm -rf ~/Downloads/et-sdl-sound
rm ~/Downloads/et-sdl-sound.tar.gz

For Ubuntu 10.10 ONLY (maybe 10.04 to)
Code:
sudo gedit /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/et-sdl-sound

Find:
Code:
SDL_AUDIODRIVER="alsa"
Replace with:
     Code:
SDL_AUDIODRIVER="pulse"

You're done!
